- Do I need a special bra when using the Elvie Pump?
The Elvie Pump is designed to be worn inside a standard nursing bra. You should press the Elvie Pump firmly against your breast. There should be no gaps between the Elvie Pump and your breast.
Each bra gives different level of support, so adjust the suction correctly before each session. If you use a special structured and non-flexible bra, the special straps to adjust your bra can provide more space.
- How many modes and intensity settings does the Elvie Pump have?
In addition to a stimulation and pumping mode, the Elvie Pump also has seven intensity settings. So you can find the intensity level that is most comfortable and efficient for you.
- What sizes of breast shells are available and how do I know if they fit?
The Elvie Pump comes with 24 mm and 28 mm breast shells (often called breast shields); a pack of two 21 mm breast shells is also available.
The sizes of our breast shells are based on the width of the base of your nipple. You can measure the width of the base of your nipple with a ruler. The breast shells have the following sizes:
- the base of the nipple is approximately 16 mm to 18 mm wide = 21 mm breast shell
- The base of the nipple is approximately 18 mm to 21 mm wide = 24 mm breast shell
- The base of the nipple is approximately 21 mm to 25 mm wide = 28 mm breast shell
The dimensions of your nipples may change during the breastfeeding period, so don't throw away the other breast shells included in the package in case you need them later.
